U.S. Figure Skating Sets Schedule for 2015 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships
U.S. Figure Skating has finalized a schedule for juvenile, intermediate, novice, junior and championship competition that includes 20 ticketed competitive events plus the Smucker's Skating Spectacular. With the addition of the juvenile and intermediate categories, the event has been extended from eight to nine days. The 2015 U.S. Championships get under way with juvenile and intermediate competition on Saturday, Jan. 17 and the event concludes the following Sunday, Jan. 25 with the Smucker's  
Skating Spectacular. There will be a practice day Friday, Jan. 16, 2015.
All novice, junior and championships competitions will take place on the championship rink in the Greensboro Coliseum, while juvenile and intermediate events will be held on both the championship and secondary rinks. To view a complete schedule of the 2015 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, click here. With the addition of juvenile and intermediate competitors, athlete participation has grown approximately 50 percent since the event was last held in Greensboro, going from 250 athletes in 2011 to a projected 375 competitors in 2015.
Ticket Launch Media Tour Set

maia-and-alex2 To help build the awareness and excitement for the launch of single-session ticket sales for the 2015 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships, 2014 Olympic ice dancers Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani, will join NC 2015 and U.S. Figure Skating officials on a three-day North Carolina statewide media blitz, Sept. 3-5. 

Maia and Alex, the brother and sister team affectionately referred to as the Shib Sibs, plan to divide and conquer on their North Carolina trip next week. On Wednesday, Maia will land in Charlotte in western NC while Alex arrives at Raleigh-Durham in the east. That evening they will visit the Carolinas Figure Skating Club and Triangle Figure Skating Club, respectively, to thank club members for the large number of ticket package purchases for the 2015 U.S. Championships.

The next morning both athletes will visit with a variety of local media outlets before heading to central North Carolina where they will meet in the 2015 U.S. Championships host city of Greensboro. In the Triad (Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point) market, Maia and Alex will visit additional media outlets including 2015 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships Diamond Media Partners The News & Record and WFMY News2 and Platinum Media Partner Clear Channel Radio.

The dynamic brother-sister duo will conclude their North Carolina trip by joining those in line to be among the first ticket buyers for the 2015 U.S. Championships. Maia and Alex will sign autographs, pose for photos and provide special commemorative gift items to the first 100 U.S. Championships ticket buyers in line at the Greensboro Coliseum Box Office when it opens at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 5.

U.S. Figure Skating and NBC Site Visit

kevin-with-execs Five members of the U.S. Figure Skating staff were joined by six NBC executives and two agency representatives of U.S. Figure Skating partner Procter & Gamble for an extensive site visit in Greensboro, Monday, Aug. 18 through Wednesday, Aug. 20. U.S. Figure Skating participants included Ramsey Baker, CMO; Bob Dunlop, senior director of events; Kevin Leonardo, director of event production; Mia Corsini, competitions coordinator; and Lindsay McAllister, coordinator of sponsor relations.

The team reviewed the Sheraton Greensboro, headquarters hotel for the 2015 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships, which has recently completed a $30 million interior and exterior makeover. The Greensboro Coliseum Complex, host venue for the U.S. Championships, received similar scrutiny. The Coliseum Complex also recently completed over $24 million in renovations including all new seating, new video boards, widened concourses and the addition of new VIP suites and extensive VIP hospitality spaces.


"We were very impressed with all the changes and upgrades at both the headquarters hotel and the venue," Dunlop said . "Both publicly and privately Greensboro has invested significantly into its major host facilities and this is going to make for an outstanding experience for athletes and fans for the 2015 U.S. Championships."
