skating1cKudos to the Boston 2014 Organizing Committee and volunteers on a successful 2014 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships highlighted by the announcement of the 2014 U.S. Olympic Figure Skating Team.

Against the attractive backdrop of one of America's most historic and popular cities, the Boston 2014 Organizing Committee staged a memorable championships filled with both dramatic and special moments.

Impressive attendance and enthusiastic crowds at the TD Garden buoyed the performances of U.S. champions Gracie Gold, Jeremy Abbott, Marissa Castelli & Simon Shnapir and Meryl Davis & Charlie White as well as the more than 370 other athletes competing in Boston.

2014 U.S. Olympic Figure Skating Team

skating2 Representing Team USA on the U.S. Olympic Figure Skating Team at next month’s Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, will be: Gracie Gold, Polina Edmunds and Ashley Wagner (ladies singles); Jeremy Abbot and Jason Brown (men’s singles); Marissa Castelli & Simon Shnapir and Felicia Zhang & Nathan Bartholomay (pairs); and Meryl Davis & Charlie White, Madison Chock & Evan Bates and Maia Shibutani & Alex Shibutani (ice dance).

 Many of these Olympians competed previously in Greensboro at the 2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships held at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. Those athletes included : Meryl Davis & Charlie White (gold, ice dance); Maia Shibutani & Alex Shibutani (silver, ice dance);  Madison Chock (with former partner Greg Zuerlein) (third, ice dance); Jeremy Abbott (fourth, men’s); Marissa Castelli & Simon Shnapir (fifth, pairs);  Ashley Wagner (sixth, ladies); Polina Edmunds (seventh, junior ladies); Jason Brown (ninth, men’s), Nathan Bartholomay (with former partner Erika Smith) (twelfth, pairs), and Felicia Zhang (W/D, ladies).

skating3 Your 2015 U.S. Figure Skating Championships Host Committee was well-represented in Boston. Key members of the NC 2015 team in attendance were Paul Wylie, honorary chairman; Hill Carrow, chairman; Faryn Roy, managing director of operations; Scott Johnson, deputy  director of the Greensboro Coliseum Complex; Kim Strable, president of the Greensboro Sports Commission; Ava Pope, director of sales and Brian Ambuehl, sports sales manager of the Greensboro Convention & Visitors Bureau; Scott Cudmore, Polar Ice of the Triangle Figure Skating director; and Denise Williamson, U.S. Figure Skating Official & Carolinas Figure Skating Club.

In addition to promoting and marketing next year’s U.S. Championships in Greensboro, Team North Carolina, led by Roy, spent every day at the 2015 Championships booth answering questions about the 2015 U.S. Championships and selling ticket packages. Sales in Boston for the 2015 Championships were very strong, an encouraging sign for next year’s big event.

“We were thrilled to have so many fans stop by our booth to tell us how much they enjoyed and were impressed by the 2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Greensboro, “ said Carrow. “These excellent reviews clearly contributed to the impressive on-site ticket sales we enjoyed in Boston.

Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, marked one year out to the start of the 2015 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. Now that we are inside one year to the 2015 event, and given the very successful 2015 "sales surge" in Boston, we strongly encourage figure skating fans everywhere to go ahead and get their tickets now for next year's U.S. Championships.

Special Treat in Beantown

skating42015 U.S. Figure Skating Championships ticket package purchasers in Boston were treated to an intimate meet & greet with Team North Carolina's Honorary Chairman Paul Wylie. With both an undergraduate and graduate degree from Harvard and long-time membership in The Skating Club of Boston, Paul Wylie's Boston ties run deep.

 Guests at the meet & greet got a special surprise when Wylie was joined by his longtime friend Nancy Kerrigan. With three Olympic medals between them, Wylie and Kerrigan set the stage for the exciting announcement of U.S. Figure Skating's 2014 Olympians the following day.
