Under Six Months to Go!

clockThursday, July 17 marked exactly six months to go to the start of the 2015 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Greensboro, N.C.

"Being under 180 days to the event means that everything starts picking up speed," said Faryn Roy, managing director for North Carolina 2015, local organizing committee for the 2015 U.S. Championships. "While the summer might seem to be a slower time for the sport of figure skating, the preparation for the event does not slow down at all. In fact our operations are starting to ramp up and will begin to escalate dramatically once we get past Labor Day."

To underscore these comments, the hectic pace continues: the next five weeks alone include site visits by U.S. Figure Skating and NBC executives, athlete interviews at Champs Camp in Colorado Springs, a North Carolina statewide media tour and the launch of individual ticket sales!

Social Media

socialFigure Skating fans were some of the earliest Olympic sport fans to embrace social media, and the fact that figure skating was often the number one social media sport conversation in the U.S. during the Sochi Games (as tracked by NBC), reflects both the prominence of the sport and the passion of its followers. For those fans who enjoy being up on all the latest goings on in the sport, we encourage you to keep abreast of the activities of your 2015 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships Local Organizing Committee by liking us on Facebook and following us on Twitter. We post and tweet weekly, and with individual ticket sales slated to begin in September, now would be a good time to join our North Carolina 2015 family of followers.

Sponsor Activities

successWith less than six months to go to the 2015 U.S. Championships, local sponsors have started developing their activation plans for the big event. Representatives of Diamond Media Partner, the News & Record, recently reviewed the Coliseum Complex and selected a preferred location for their significant FanFest presence. Shortly after, a delegation from Kipling, Local Presenting Sponsor in conjunction with parent company VF Corporation, conducted a site visit and discussed plans for their interactive locations both on the main arena concourse and in the FanFest.

"To have major partners diligently mapping out their sponsorship plans at this relatively early stage is both exciting and very comforting," said Hill Carrow, chairman of North Carolina 2015. "In 2011 as you might imagine, there were many plans and preparations that came together at the last minute, and with our sponsors' help, we are making good progress on getting ahead of the curve this time around. The major goal, of course, is to be an even better host in 2015 and continue to deliver for the athletes, officials and fans of the sport at the highest level."
